"Don't walk before me, maybe I won't follow you. Don't walk behind me, maybe I won't guide you. Walk next to me and just be my friend."
Albert Camus

Jean-Pierre Rousset is a US/French awarded photographer also pilgrim of Saint James. For him, this particular pilgrimage is a source of inspiration since the 90s. He was then in charge of the Société Landaise des Amis de Saint Jacques, a French non profit organization based in Les Landes, a region with multiple routes to Santiago crossing a large forest with numerous romanesque lovely churches.
He committed to the rebirth of the Way in France when there were no routes, no signs, no books, no places for pilgrims to sleep and in fact almost no pilgrims at all.
Year after year, he has made thousands of art photographs, a tight selection of which appears here.
You can comment the photos, speak of your experience as a pilgrim or add missing info and contribute. Please do it. You can also download or share the photos for any non commercial purpose but please don't crop the copyright, since it's the only way to have this work known. High resolution files are available upon request as are many places not featured on this website.
Thank you and Buen Camino!
