This short chapter tells the amazing story of the artists and workers who built the cathedrals in France and Spain. Called "Compagnons" in French, they have their own legend dating back to the great temple of King Solomon. Their marks are everywhere on the Camino. They still exist today as a corporation and a teaching. In 2010, UNESCO registered this ancient tradition as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a special category created to award and protect immaterial heritage around the world.
